Data Types-Doug's work

Data Types A data type is a data storage format that can contain a specific type or range of values. Boolean: a Boolean data type is a value that is either true or false. By default the Boolean data type is set to false. A Boolean operator or logical operator consists of operators such as AND, OR, NOT, NOR, NAND and XOR, and are used with conditional statements. The Boolean data type is the smallest data type as its memory size is 1bit. Integer: an integer is a whole number that can be a positive, negative or zero. Unlike floating point numbers, integers cannot have decimal places. Integers are a commonly used data type in computer programming. When a number is being used, such as within a four loop or while loop an integer is used. An integers memory size is 2 bytes but can sometimes be 4 bytes. Selection Statements-Dougs work

Sequence: A sequence process when writing programs is when an action or event takes place which then leads to the following action in order; this ensures that all steps are executed. An example of this is when there is a program that multiplies numbers together which would require the user to input the numbers then multiply them and then display the result on the screen to the user. Selection statements: A selection statement causes the program control to be transferred to a specific flow based upon whether a certain condition is true or not. In other words this is where a computer can choose a different programming flow.  Selection is also known as making decision is programming, the next action is based upon a decision where a question would be asked which involves using If/else statements, this type of structure works when there is a condition that says  If  condition A is true then perform action B  else  perform action C. Distinction tasks

I will turn my focus onto distinction tasks once I have achieved the merits. I have spoke to Gordon who said I am not far off the merits so once that's done I will have to start the distinction work which will help me benefit from my time at college and hopefully help me in the future, such as applying for apprenticeships, universities and future full time jobs. I will have to stay committed to the distinction tasks and do some work at home as well in college because I cant afford to fall behind work as I still need to get passes and merits in assignments which are set. I have achieved this target as I have completed two distinction tasks out of two which I was set.

Merit tasks

I have been set a target by Gordon to achieve at least a merit in my work, therefore I have completed all of my pass tasks and I have started on the merit work. If I achieved a merit or a distinction at the end of the course It will look a lot better than a pass on application forms for apprentices, universities and jobs. If I passed merit tasks quicker than expected I will then move onto distinction tasks as I want to make the most of this course and my college time. I have now achieved my merit tasks which was my overall target and moved onto the distinction tasks which I also completed.

Job Interview

After making my CV I applied for Wilkinson's and I have an interview on the 11/11/2017. This job would allow me to gain experience in working with others, gain key skills and learn how to treat customers which could benefit me for the future. The job I have applied for is a part time one which would fit in around college times and it allows me to gain more money which will help me for my driving test. Although I also have a part time job with my brother labouring, this job would be more suitable if I got it as its working with customers a lot more.

Catching up on work

I have caught up on all the work I missed for Gordon, Doug and Paul. I originally missed some of the work due to my attendance not being as good as it should be, but a long term target of mine is to maintain good work levels and maintain a good attendance because I wont get behind on any work and I will be able to meet deadlines. If I didn't set these targets for myself and started missing lessons and not catching up on work my college position would be a lot worse and I would miss a lot of work which would make it harder to achieve distinctions and merits as I would have to fully focus on passes, however I want to do as well as I possibly can because it will be good for my future. Therefore I have achieved this target as I have completed the pass, merit and distinction tasks which I have been personally set from my teachers
